FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

USN DT2 Born May 24th, 1937, Joyce Vogel-Law joined the U.S. Navy at 18 years old on Jun 20th, 1955, to become a Dental Technician (DT). Joyce had graduated High School in St. Petersburg, Florida, and attended Bootcamp in Bainbridge, Maryland, where all females attended Bootcamp. Being not yet 21, in 1955, Joyce had to have the permission of her parents to join the Navy. She attended her primary school of choice at the Naval Dental School on that same base, where she trained to assist in oral surgery. Her detailer insisted that Joyce become a Corpsman, but she assured her primary school by assigning her second choice as Compartment Cleaner. Her first duty station was at the Naval Hospital at Bethesda, Maryland, where she primarily serves in administrative duties at the clinic. Joyce served on active duty for four years and was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class (DT2). She was released from active duty (for the reason of marriage) after marrying her husband, another Dental Technician, selected to the Medical administration officer corps. One of Joyce's best memories was a military flight (Hop) down to St. Petersburg, Florida, to surprise her parents that did not go as planned and ended with a crazy call to her father, who did not know she was coming home.
