Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.


How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Air Force SGT Korean War Oliver Luck was born on July 7th, 1931, and grew up in Pitsburg, PA. Oliver graduated from Westing House High School in 1950. Oliver joined the National Guard in 1948, his Junior year with the 432 Army Band, because his brother was a Master Sergeant serving with the band. His brother got him into the guard, and he served with the band for two years. On March 30th, 1951, Oliver joined the US Air Force with three friends. He attended basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He was to be a member of the Boot Camp band but was placed in a regular training unit due to the war. He skipped out of church service to visit the band and talked with the Director, who auditioned him. The director made a few calls ensuring that Oliver would be assigned to an AF Band. He was scheduled to attend Radio school but was reassigned three miles up the road with the 657th Air Force Band, never leaving Lackland AFB. Airman 1st Class was assigned to attend Adjutant General School in Ft. Lee, Virginia. He was put aboard a first-class Pullman car as a service member in his Air Force Marching Band Uniform. He was later pulled out of his seat upon arriving at the border of Va. The local cops did not recognize his Air Force uniform and placed him in cuffs in the 3rd class car. The sergeant at the army base saved him from civilian jail, checking him into the base with his orders. He spent ten weeks at school in his crazy Air Force uniform, where many soldiers saluted his unknown uniform. Airman Luck spent his next three years as a marching band member who rode a wagon through most performances. Airman Second Class turned down orders to the Philippines and ended his service on 14 Sep 1953. Oliver loved his time in the Air Force and San Antonio. Oliver used his GI bill, gaining an undergrad in Music with an emphasis on Music Therapy.
