FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Army PFC Korean War Albert Tomigal was born on October 17th, 1935, and grew up in Canonsburg, Pa. He graduated from high school and was drafted into the Army on October 7, 1954. He reported to basic training at Ft Knox KY, and advanced weapons training. Albert was assigned to the 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division. Albert and the 17th headed for Korea aboard a Kaiser Liberty Class troop transport ship departing Seattle, WA, landing first in Yokosuka, Japan, before moving to Busan, Korea, and then to Inchon. While at Inchon, he loaded onto an LSD via nets and ladders over the side of the transport ship to get into shore. The 17th Infantry was the first UN unit to reach the Yalu River, the border between North Korea and China. Like all Soldiers, Albert lived in tents in the summer's heat and the Korean winter's bitter cold. Albert stated, “We were not noble; we were not heroes. We just did our job, and we did it well.” Albert was separated from active duty on 14 July 1956, returning home to the States.
