Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.


How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

Jay Hobson<br />United States Air Force <br />Airman First Class<br />Korean War<br /><br /> Jay Hobson served in the United States Air Force in 1956. <br />He served with the 1299 and 1699 Air Traffic Squadrons. Both Squadrons were United States Air Force units active in the mid-20th century, primarily known for their roles in special air missions and domestic VIP transport, much like a modern commercial airline such as United Airlines. <br /><br />Based at Bolling AFB, Washington, D.C., where he was lucky to meet his wife of 62 years. Jay served primarily as a flight crew steward, a specialized enlisted member of the aircrew, ensuring the safety, comfort, and security of senior national leaders and VIPs on USAF and distinguished-visitor aircraft. They manage all cabin safety, emergency procedures, menu planning, and even food shopping, along with meal preparation/service.<br /><br />While at 1299 Jay primarily was flying in the Convair CV-240s with seats for 40 passengers in a pressurized fuselage, and the Douglas C-54 Skymaster transport aircraft, and the Douglas C-124 Globemaster heavy lift cargo and passenger aircraft. He flew countless missions along the North Atlantic route.<br /><br />His squadron conducted supply runs throughout the North Atlantic, with missions to Greenland, New Finland, Iceland, Scotland, and Germany. He flew countless missions along the North Atlantic route. He was honorably discharged in 1969 and returned to civilian life with his wife.
