FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

United States Army Specialist Four (SP4) Peacetime Service Richard E. Dominguez was born in Canby, Oregon, on June 6, 1935. His family moved to California, first to Pescadero and then to Pacifica near San Francisco, one of four children. After graduating from Jefferson High School, in Daly City in the summer of 1953, he worked and lived at home before enlisting in the Army in the summer of 1958. Private Dominguez reported for boot camp on June 10, 1958, at the U.S. Army Training Center, Fort Ord, California. At 23, he was one of the more senior men in his platoon, with many of the other recruits being just 18. Upon graduation from basic and advanced infantry training, Private Dominguez was selected for Advanced Individual Training. Private Dominguez reported to the culinary school at Fort Ord for an 8-week Advanced Individual Training. This specialized training for his Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) included hands-on cooking experiences, various culinary techniques, and classroom instruction on food safety and nutrition. He graduated with the MOS of 941.10, prepared to work in an Army kitchen. Private Dominguez was stationed with the Eighth Army’s Headquarters Company (Aug HQ Co) at Camp Humphreys in South Korea, where the U.S. Army’s Eighth Army commanded all U.S. Army forces in Korea. He served overseas for one year before completing his enlistment obligation. Richard Dominguez was honorably discharged on May 4, 1960, and transferred to the United States Army Reserve in California. He later married Babette, and they had two children during their over 37-year marriage. Richard worked for Union Oil for two decades and also drove a tour bus in San Fransisco.
