FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

Born Sep 27th, 1940, Phillip Gale joined the U.S. Marine Corps in June 1963 at 23 years old, spending a few years in college. Phillip wanted to finish his college degree, so he enlisted as a reservist. Private Gale started his service as all marines trained to be infantrymen. After completing boot camp, he attended advanced training at Camp Pendleton before returning to Stockton, California. Here he served with an artillery unit for just over a year. He and his wife then moved to Seattle, Wa. where Phillip served with an Air-wing unit on the shores of Lake Washington onboard NAS San Point, today Magnuson Park. His squadron flew Fairchild, C-119 flying boxcars (military transport aircraft), and only had four planes at any time. Phillip eventually gained the rank of Sergeant as the head of the hydraulics and airframes department. He enjoyed his duties with the Air-Wing as a "cleaner place" to work over his infantry days but fondly remembered an annual "two weeks" training of amphibious assault on the Coronado and Stand shoreline. Phillip was a school teacher at a junior high school in Seattle for four years with the air wing before returning to school to receive an advanced degree.
