Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.


How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

James Sears was born on 19 Apr 1937 and grew up in Albany, New York. James received his B.A. from Wesleyan University and has a Doctor of Medicine in Psychiatry from Albany Medical School. RADM Sears served in the U.S. Navy as a Medical Officer. He was commissioned on 5 Jul 1964 after medical school and completed his residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. Rear Admiral Sears retired on 31 Oct 1989 after 25 years of service. His First active duty assignment was the Philadelphia Naval Hospital, where he volunteered for service in Vietnam as Head of Neuropsychiatry on board the USS REPOSE (AH-16), a Haven-class hospital ship from 1967-68. He then served as Head of the Officers' Unit, 1969-71, and Asst. Chief/Director of Residency Training 71-73. Dr. James also served as the Dept. Head of Psychiatry, Naval Hospital, Philadelphia, 73-76, Chairman of Psychiatry, Naval Hospital, Portsmouth 76-79, and Naval Hospital San Diego 79-82, and Director of Clinical Services, Naval Hospital, Oakland (1983). He assumed command of Naval Hospital, Oakland, on 3 Jun 1984. Capt Sears was then selected for Commodore in Feb 84 and assigned as Director of Health Care Operations (OP-933) in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. On 28 Jun 1985, he assumed command of the Naval Medical Command, Southwest. Region. Where RDML Sears dedicated the new Naval Hospital in San Diego in Oct 86 and was then promoted to Rear Admiral (Upper Half). He then took command of the Naval Medical Command, Washington, D.C., on 29 Jul 1988, setting policy for Navy medicine, overseeing 31 Navy hospitals, 188 medical clinics, and 176 dental facilities. RADM Sears Culminated his career as Deputy Surgeon General of the U.S. Navy. He also notably served as a consultant to the Surgeon General for Operations Homecoming (return of Vietnam prisoners of war), creating support groups to ease the transition of the returnees
