FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

Army CPL World War 2 David Bold served in the US Army from 1946 to 1947. His service to the US Army was during the post-war Occupational forces as reliving troops after combat operations were complete. David attended Basic training at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX, and was assigned to the Second Armored Division at Fort Benning, Georgia. David initially enlisted and was trained to work in artillery as an azimuth tracker on a 3-inch anti-aircraft gun, reading the horizontal track of the weapon. He and the crew manually cranked the gun to keep in on the target while the fire operator shot at the target. David was assigned to one of the three Armored Field Artillery Battalions of the 2nd Armored Division. After US combat operations, David was reassigned as a company clerk at Fort Hood. He was trained to help replace service members in Japan who had served during combat operations. Dave was assigned to Zama, Japan, with the replacement forces as a teletype operator a job he had to learn while in the country and performing the service. He picked ups the skill quickly and performed well and was transferred to Toyko and then Yokohama to work for the command group. He managed correspondence messages in and out of Japan for General Eichelberger and then General Douglas Macarthur, appointed as Supreme Commander of the Allied Powers. David’s service concluded in 1947 when he returned home and was demobilized at the end of his service obligation.
