FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Navy RP1 World War 2 Levi Mindt served in the US Navy for 21 years. He served as a Chaplain’s Assistant or Religious Program Specialist (RP). Religious Program Specialists ensure that every Sailor has proper access to the resources needed to follow their faith. Levi’s duties included things like preparing devotional materials, organizing faith-based events, maintaining religious records, and serving as a source of personal security for Navy Chaplains. Another role of a Religious Program Specialist is to bring Sailors together to help support their mental health through faith, whether they’re religious or not. From suicide prevention to relationship advice to self-esteem issues, you will make sure your fellow Sailors always have someone to talk to and find a solution to their problems. Levi said the best part about serving as a PR was helping and comforting service members during his many years of service. Many people are probably unaware that the Chaplain Assistants spent most of his day as a librarian, and Levi enjoyed managing the ship’s library. While Navy ships provide many forms of recreation to Sailors and Marines at sea, the ship's library is one of the morale items often overlooked. A Chaplain Assistant is part of the Unit Ministry Team (UMT) and supports programs, including worship services and Community relations (COMRAL) projects. Since Chaplains are non-combatants, the Chaplain Assistants provide force protection (they carry guns) for Chaplains in combat environments.
