Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.


How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Marine Corps MAJ World War 2 - Korea - Vietnam Born on September 25th, 1927, in Wallington, Bergen County, New Jersey Ski, enlisted as a private in the Marine Corps at age 17 in 1944. Major Bernard ‘Ski” Waskowski served in the United States Marines from 1944 to 1967 for 22 years. He served during three wars, including WW2, in the Pacific campaign against Japan, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. PVT Bernard served in the Pacific campaign with the 1st Marine Division during the fighting in Japan. Ski also served at the port city of Shikokuchuo in the Ehime Prefecture, at (Itsui), and finally, the mainland of Honshu. He continued his service on the mainland during the occupational forces until 1949, stationed at Camp Jung, a small USMC base near Yokosuka. Bernard Waskowski was awarded the Bronze Star with a Combat V and a Navy Commendation, also with a Combat V for acts of Valor during combat service. These awards were presented for two separate actions. Bernard served after WW2 with the occupational forces in Japan. The Major recounted that one of his favorite memories while in-country was admiring the beautiful samurai swords and riding his motorcycle through the cities. Major Waskowski served with the 1st and 2nd Divisions, and after receiving a commission, he served as a Supply & Warehouse Officer. Ski served with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd USMC Air-wing. Major Waskowski is a three-war Marine who served during WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. He was honorably discharged as a Major in 1969. He was married to his wife Lucia for 67 years. They had four children and six grandchildren.
