FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where can I donate?

I have created a way to accept donations to grow the project, use the WWII Veterans Portrait Series Go Fund Me.

Where are you located?

I live in the San Diego area but have traveled to many locations to interview and photograph Veterans.

How Long is an Appointment?

Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Do you accept reservations?

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Army Air Corps UNK World War II Robert Zinzel was born on July 21, 1925, and served as an enlisted man in the US Army Air Corps. Like many, he graduated from High School in 1943 and signed up to serve his country during World War II. Robert attended Boot Camp and then trained to work in the supply corps. Robert trained in supply and logistics management instruction. He earned his Army MOS military occupational specialty of 821 Quartermaster Supply Technician, hoping to one day become the Supply NCO for a unit. Robert was assigned to his first unit and remembered acquiring many supplies. Quartermaster units are assigned to the larger commands. They are structured to deploy not only as entire units but also as tailored platoons or divs to meet each unit’s individual needs. So, for Robert, his job changed from assignment to assignment as the war effort moved forward. Robert remained on active duty in the Army Air Corps, serving 24 years. He said he stayed on the supply side of the command and was stationed at bases. Robert was in the Army Air Corps when it transitioned to becoming what we know today as the US Air Force on 18 September 1947. After his service, Robert attended Law School, passed the bar, and became a lawyer. He practiced for seven years before being appointed a Judge and serving in the Los Angeles court system. Robert spent his later years in the company of his fellow service members at the Veterans Home of California-West Los Angeles.
