Appointments usually last an hour. But please free up time for Mickey to set up lights and cameras, hold the interview, and take some still photographers for in the project.

Yes is the simple answer to the question. Each appointment is set up as an individual session. Group sessions have been set up when I visited a senior living facility or many of the California Veterans Homes.

US Navy Boatswain's Mate Second Class World War II Born March 15th, 1926, Richard Dean served in the U.S. Navy from March 15th, 1943, to February 8th, 1946. Richard joined the Navy on his 17th birthday after his mom signed him up to help support the family after his father passed away. Dick attended boot camp and shipped out immediately to the fleet. Richard served in the Navy as a Boatswain's mate, the backbone of the ship's deck department, acting as a "jack-of-all-trades" responsible for ship maintenance, navigation, mooring, anchoring, and replenishment at sea duties. Richard also became qualified as a Coxswain, pronounced cox’s’n, who is an enlisted sailor responsible for commanding, steering, and operating small boats. Richard served on the Buckley-class Destroyer Escort USS Gantner (DE-60), a 300-foot-long and 40-foot-wide ship with a crew of fewer than 200. While stationed aboard, the ship conducted convoy duty from the East Coast to Algiers, Africa. Richard recalls serving on a depth charge crew as submarines hunted their convoy across the Atlantic. Petty Officer Dean advanced to the rank of Petty Officer Second Class before leaving the USS Ganter. He was transferred to the USS Savannah (CL-42), a Brooklyn-class light cruiser, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. Richard was on board the USS Savannah when they escorted President Roosevelt to the Crimea Conference in February of 45, in Yalta, Crimea, Soviet Union. There, President Roosevelt sat down at the Yalta Conference with Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Soviet Premier Joseph Stalin to establish the postwar reorganization of Germany. The ship returned with the convoy and the president. Richard served the remainder of his World War II active duty onboard the Savanna. BM2 Richard Dean was Honorably Discharged at the end of WW2. Richard was married to Mrs. Bobbie Dean, and they had one child, Louis J Dean. BM2 Richard Dean was recalled to active duty and served during the Korean War from Dec 1950 to April 1952.
